Graduate Programs in the APS
The Australian Public Service (APS) recruits a variety of graduates with a diverse range of skills and qualifications, from Business, Law, Engineering, ICT, HR, Science, Marketing and Management, to Security, Intelligence, Service Delivery and Environmental Management. Each APS agency has its own desired skills or academic qualifications for graduates applying (see below for a full list of graduate programs).
What is a Graduate Program?
Graduate programs are a structured induction programs designed to introduce a graduate into their respective APS agency with training and development, mentoring and on the job support.
The length and type of program varies between agencies, generally a Graduate Program is
- Length – 10 to 18 months
- Consist of 1 to 3 workplace rotations
- Provide a compressive induction
- Broad and varied training and development options
- Career planning support
Alternatively, university graduates can also apply directly into the APS through entry level positions.
